Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure - popularly known as Fanny Hill - is an erotic novel by the English novelist John Cleland was first published in London in 1748. Written while the author was in debtors’ prison. There has been speculation that the novel was at least partly written by 1740, when Cleland was stationed in Bombay as an employee of the East India Company.
It is one of the most prosecuted and banned books in history.
DESCRIPTION
Set in Monotype Bell on cotton Century Laid paper in an edition of 25 copies (this is no 7). Bound by hand in half leather with marbled boards, titles and decoration to spine gilt, marbled edges. Two volumes in 8vo format (16x25 cm) of 248 pages (each), housed in a hand-made slipcase.
Attractively bound by hand.
The original work was not illustrated; however, our edition has included French illustrations from the XVIII century depicting the sexual content of the novel.
